3D Sheep Craft for Kids: Detailed Foam Art

This foam sheep craft for kids is perfect for the 6-9 year old set. Even my middle schoolers enjoyed it! It lets them use their creativity as much as they want within the guided parameters of foam. It’s very hands-on, and the end result is super cute!

There are so many times that having a sheep craft for kids on hand comes in super useful. I, personally, use a sheep craft on Monday of Holy Week to put in our Holy Week Baskets to represent the story of Jesus cleansing the Temple. (Unsure what a Holy Week Basket is? See the explanation here.)

But they could go along with many Bible lessons, farm studies, lots of children’s books, or even just to keep little hands occupied on a rainy day.

Foam Sheep Craft for Kids

When crafting with my kids (or doing anything, really), I tend to go the DIY route. I would purchase solid foam sheets and either draw out my own sheep shape or, depending on the skill level of the child, have the kids do it themselves. We have a collection of foam stickers that I keep on hand just for such purposes.

If you want to make your own, these free paper sheep templates make a great starting point. These are the cute sheep in the image above. I designed these for my kids’ use and would love to share them with you. We also used this same sheep template for the Design-a-Sheep activity for older kids. For best results, print on card stock. Depending on the skill level of the child, they can cut the sheep out themselves, or you can pre-cut the shapes for them.

Or if DIY is not your style and you’d rather save yourself some time and trouble, I’ve got just the thing! I have some pre-made 3D Foam Sheep Craft Kits already made up and for sale in the Chasing Those Moments Shop! Each kit comes with one pre-cut white foam sheep and approximately 20 assorted foam stickers. I’ve got all kinds of colors and shapes! Feel free to hop on over and purchase one or two or ten!

Give your kids the sheep shapes and the foam stickers and set their creativity free! They and you will love the designs they come up with.

More Sheep Craft Ideas

I have plenty of free printables and templates available in this post as well as many available for purchase in my shop.

This coaster kit available on Amazon would also work really well for a sheep-themed activity. They would be a great size for a child’s hand and would make a good gift. The mosaic design stretches creative imagination and is wonderful fine motor skill practice. But I’m still pretty partial to my own. ; )
